Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin’s initial estimate of $1 billion in crypto donations to India’s Covid Relief has only been realized at $464 million, while the value of cryptocurrencies still in the relief fund’s wallets is about $274 million.
About $40 million in fiat currency was held in the accounts of Puerto Rican bank FV Bank, and another $100 million was returned to Vitalik Buterin himself.
He created his own philanthropic fund and another $1.5 million was transferred to the Alameda Research wallet, for a total of just $58 million so far going to charities providing relief work.
