Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has joined the ranks of calls for leniency from a New York court in the impending judgment of former Ethereum developer Virgil Griffith.
Griffith was arrested in November 2019 after speaking on cryptocurrency and blockchain technology at a cryptocurrency conference in North Korea in April of that year. He was charged with violating U.S. sanctions law and pleaded guilty in September 2021 in an agreement with federal prosecutors, where he could serve up to 6.5 years in prison.
