U.S. federal prosecutors are seeking more information about former FTX CEO SBF and two executives who worked with him making political donations to Democratic and Republican lawmakers, the sources said.
Since SBF’s arrest, prosecutors have contacted colleagues at SBF and other companies he founded, as well as representatives of campaign committees. The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York sent an email to a law firm representing Democratic political groups requesting information about donations from SBF and its associates.
The campaign, the committee and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries all received the emails, the sources said. Following the collapse of SBF, Jeffries and other politicians “either refunded FTX-related donations or donated the money to charity,” the source said. Democratic groups in the U.S. will refund more than $1 million in political donations to the SBF.
