Dominic Maffei, head of SC Ventures in Hong Kong, said it’s hard to talk about a bright future for Web 3.0, as the technology is still in its early stages and therefore receives a lot of hype.
But Maffei thinks that will be resolved in the post-pandemic period, when apps appear more frequently when people go out and start interacting normally.
Laura Shi, Asia strategy director at blockchain software firm ConsenSys, believes this disconnect is also the result of most ecosystem activity happening from a Web 2.0 perspective, as should be expected during this transition period.
Shi expects further integration of Web 3.0 to come from non-financial use cases, and says the industry should look for possibilities for fun and social interaction to take advantage of the technology.
