Google, one of the world’s largest software companies, is launching a blockchain division and plans to include it in a lab group, Jan. 25. The newly formed blockchain division will focus on blockchain and other next-generation distributed computing and data storage technologies.
While Google is involved in some blockchain projects, it is very wary of doing business with any cryptocurrency, and the new blockchain unit will be experimenting with blockchain technology under the supervision of a lab group. The move is in response to new developments in blockchain from other companies such as Meta (formerly Facebook).
