Recently, Federal Reserve Governor Bowman delivered a speech on CBDC, and Bowman generally supports wholesale digital dollars.
But Bowman argues that the trade-off between the benefits and unintended consequences of a retail CBDC makes it difficult to justify direct access outside of interbank use.
In his presentation, Bowman also discussed what problems CBDCs could solve and what characteristics should be considered when designing and adopting them.
