Rostin Behnam, chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), said something needs to be done to regulate cryptocurrencies, adding that the “solution” could be for Congress to pass legislation.
He said: “You can imagine that if there was a clear regulatory framework, there might be an increase in institutional demand. But for me, we are thinking about retail participation, our enforcement record of more than a decade before me. I think this is very clear evidence that something needs to be done.”
