The Twitter account of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national chairman JP Nadda was hacked on Sunday, which had tweeted calls for people to donate cryptocurrencies for Ukrainians and Russians. One of the tweets read, “Stand with the Ukrainian people. Now accepting cryptocurrency donations in support of the use of Bitcoin and Ethereum.” Soon after the tweet was deleted, another tweet called for donations to Russia.
The account has now returned to normal. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, India’s Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, said the hacking incident was known and the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT) was investigating the matter.
