In an announcement Wednesday, Australian cryptocurrency industry body Blockchain Australia called for addressing the issue head-on by using real data.
The industry body has decided to hold a roundtable discussion on June 27 during Australia Blockchain Week to discuss the issue with policymakers, likely including Assistant Treasurer and Financial Services Minister Stephen Jones and the Australian Securities and Investments Commission.
Jackson Zeng, director of Blockchain Australia, said the banking institution’s recent decision to limit payments to cryptocurrency exchanges by millions of customers is a serious restriction on Australia’s economic freedom.
Everyone has the inherent right to decide how and where their money is spent, and the primary role of banks is to facilitate these decisions, not impose restrictions on them.
